i'm pretty sure since when you start it, it suonds like a diesel, the engine got blown

the synchronizer was not screwed in properly by this guy that was helping me do it. i otld htem, it's not done right blah blah because i started it, the rpm was wacky, and they said oh no it's fine. so i think the oil pressure caused the synchronizer to pop out

and guess what happened? oil light came on, engine sounds like diesel

Well, the good news is if you fixing it that its a vulcan. Plenty of 3.0's around reasonable and they rarely fail. You could probably get one from $200 to $600 if you shop around. A duratec would be MUCH more expensive. Changing it is another matter.

If you sold if for parts, it would be $200 to $500 complete depending on condition. Hell, i would buy it for that much if it was close to Nebraska.

yeah i know the synchronizer drives a gear that drives the oil pump my uncle is an ASE certified transmission specialist. he drove it. when i told him there was something wrong, he said reset the computer and i'll drive it around. and then he sent it home

If you shop around, you should be able to get a 3.0 for under $500. There are so many around, and the fact they rarely fail puts you in the drivers seat to deal on one. There even on Ebay from time to time. A duratec is another matter. You might also watch your local papers for people selling parts off of a freshly wrecked car. What part of the country are you in?
