Ignition scope crossfire waveform?

Sep 25, 2003 1 Replies

Googled for a sample pattern but didn't find one. Anyone have one or could verbally describe what a crossfire would look like?

While triggered for a single cylinder secondary ignition display, I'm seeing a superimposed 2d cylinder pattern and 2d spark firing peak; and while in parade, see a distinct and abrupt lateral shift in pattern. Have extensively varied trigger options, scope settings, placement of inductive trigger: abnormal patterns remain

Both the above correlate to when engine is misfiring (no single cylinder stands out as bad; much more detail involved), and dissappear when engine smooths out (both above and below problem RPM band). Trying to determine if this is a scope trigger or user error problem, or if correlation may equal cause

Thank you, Lance

p.s. this is for a Bosch Hall-Effect electronic ignition, with single coil, distributor, wires, etc., but wouldn't mind seeing any kind of crossfire info for whatever ignition system
