When you shift into 4 wheel drive, this switch applies vacuum to a vacuum actuator sitting under the battery which in turn shifts the front axle into engagement thru a cable.

How hard was it to push the steel ball in to switch the switch?? Sounds like a part I could use for a different purpose if it's not too hard to push in the ball.
