Removing 2000 Dakota fuel rail

Apr 08, 2009 1 Replies

I am replacing the heads on a 2000 Dakota. How do you get the connect fitting off on the fuel rail? Mine is a type 1 clip I believe. It says to use a special tool: Snap On FIH-9055-1. Is this something I can get at Autozone> Is it just simply a common 3/8 quick disconnect fitting? I have not worked on too many dodges.

Also, when replacing the head gaskets, Do I need to coat the head bolts and intake bolts in sealant?

I have a '95 with the 5.2L V8. When I took off my intake manifold I was able to leave the fuel rail connected. The manual said to disconnect it, but I was able to just move it out of the way and not deal with the special tool.
