If Toyota has quality issues on the way to #1, what the hell will VW have?!?!?!

VW's goal is to overtake Toyota as the world's number one automaker, but it has some serious hurdles to overcome here in the U.S. While Toyota has made huge strides in the U.S. market over the last decade, VW continues as a low-volume automaker due to its lackluster lineup and questionable reliability (VW recalled over one million Beetles earlier this year).

It would figure that Toyota, in an effort to displace GM as the World's #1 car maker, would suffer some quality issues. Given a certain base-line of defects, if you go from 1M cars a year to 4M cars per year the numbers are going to bite you in the ass. It was to be expected!

So what the hell will VW do?! Their cars are already riddled with defects, bad parts, etc. What will happen when they try to overtake Toyota's spot in the auto world? Will their cars start falling apart while being driven off the ships?!
