Here is the actual invoice, done to the rear of the car qty,1 brake shoe: 54.99 qty, 1 inst, disc pad rear: 65.00 qty, 2 brake drum 78.99 each qty, 1 drum hrdwr kit: 17.99 So, there is a disc pad and a drum in the back, I guess? I know its rare to to replace drums in the rear, but there was a grinding noise coming from the back prior to service, and they showed me the rusted old parts (drums). So I guess they needed replacement at 153, 000 miles?

Well, I'm assuming inst means Installation?

Since you appear to have drum rears, that must be what it is.

The only other rears that have pads AND shoes are the models with 4 wheel disc, because the emergency (parking?) brake is a drum that is integrated into the disc, and uses shoes for the friction surface.
