2007 Camry Hesitation/Surge

Question about the hesitation/surge issue in the Gen 6 Camry's.

From my research, I found out that it affects the 4 cyl Camry's. I am

currently driving a rental LE 4cyl, and I did notice this issue.

Question is, does this also happen in the V6 07 Camry's? Have you personally experienced it?

Thanks

I thought Toyota issued a TSB on the hesitation issue (EG056-66?). But some owners reported it didn't do any good. Maybe it's the transmission? There is a Jan/07 TSB about it skipping gears. The only fix is to get a new one. With the major problems the 07 Camry just seem like a piece of junk compared to earlier ones.

The big TSB that is supposed to resolve the hesitation issue is TSB #EG056-56. I took mine to Al Hendrickson and the service rep immediately insulted me by saying that the "hesitation is normal". Good thing I wasn't carrying a big stick because I was ready to use it. I told the useless POS service rep about the TSB and the postings all over the WWW about the hesitation and when she printed the service order, there was no mention of the TSB. So I had to manually write it on the service order. Since that one TSB has been performed on my Camry, the car operates MUCH BETTER, but the problem is still not solved. There is still a hesitation on a cold engine with fast acceleration. And now I'm seeing recent evidence of a modification to the big TSB that was issued in late Sept. Damn! And just for the record, Al Hendrickson service department ranks at the bottom of my list of "quality" Toyota dealerships. I can't wait to get their "customer service" response card in the mail. "

I can see that you are still in the Denial stage, hehehe just joking. its nice to hear there are good 07 Camry's out there

4 cyl does not perform well and toyota said that it was normal and driving as it was designed to do. Its funny because some owners doesn't experience the problem, so it can not be the design, toyota said not all drivers have the same driving habits and dont drive with a lead foot. I dont own a 6cyl so I cannot comment further.

Toyota's recent quality problems have been publicly acknowledged by the corporate management. It's interesting some owners can convince themselves that the management doesn't know what it's talking about.

One poster who spoke to a toyota rep at a car show wrote that the new U-series junk isn't made by Aisin. But Aisin has made different series of transmissions for Toyota.

Does anyone know who makes the new U-series transmission? I personally don't know any new transmission as bad as the U-series.

It may be built in Durham NC. Initially they were making parts there but they were supposedly upgraded to make whole AT's. But I don't know which model. Some are also built in VA.

I have a 2007 Camry XLE 4cyl AT with about 3000 miles on it. I don't drive with a lead foot. Although hesitation does not occur all the time, when it does, it's completely unpredictable. Because the driver can't predict when it will happen, it becomes a safety problem (in my mind). Mine will hesitate for 2-4 seconds (or more) sometimes, and in the area I drive in, no matter how much you anticipate your next move, it has caused problems. If you want to, go to the NHTSA website and you will see many complaints about hesitation with this new "drive by wire" 4-cylinder engine. Also, there have been "buy backs" by Toyota from unhappy owners. I have already decided to trade in this car at the end of summer (August or September) when the 2008s come out. The new Accord looks to be a winner.

Hondas--the favoured vehicles of both gang members AND punks. BTW, you'll probably lose AT LEAST $10,000 on your trade in.

No wonder 07 Camry transmission are bad, its considered #2 American- Made Cars : )

Honda has more parts source in the USA than Toyota. So maybe Honda is the top American car ;) Of course, Ford's a Canadian or Mexican company ;) But Toyota's declining quality unfortunately is becoming like the old GM.

That said, I think the new generation GM's Epsilon (07 Saturn Aura, 08 Chevy Malibu), Lambda (07 GMC Acadia), and Theta (08 Saturn Outlook) platforms show significant improvements over previous generations of products. I particularly like the new high-tech 6-speed clutch-to- clutch transmission (6L/6T series), 2-mode hybrid system developed with BMW and cylinder deactivation technology. GM did a good job starting the turnaround, and a year ago I wouldn't drive past a GM lot.

But never buy a car on its first year, especially with all these new high tech gadgets.

True, I was recommending waiting on the 2007 Camry when it first came out. Looks like I was more correct than I thought I would be.

By 2008 the GM new technologies will have a couple of years of workout, > But never buy a car on its first year, especially with all these new

I occasionally see a Ford Model T on the street. No problems. Runs like a top ;)

You can ride (not drive) a model T in the Henry Ford museum in Michigan for $4
