Thank you to those who answered my questions about this thing. The problem is recurring but with the tech dara you provided it is not so scary. Wiggling the wires and connectors cures it temporarily. There is a lot of grease and dirt on the back of the block that needs to be cleaned and then I will check the connectors better, both directly and with an inspection mirror.

If wiggling the wires/connectors cures it temporaily, then it tells you a lot. It may simply require a good cleaning. If you remove it for inspection/cleaning, be careful the engine oil might come out of the sensor hole. The valve cover gasket leak, usually after 50K miles, is probably responsible for the dirt/oil on the wires/connectors.
Get a set of FelPro's set with PermaDry gasket and spark plug tube seals is about $14 online. Some RTV will be needed on the cam plugs where they meet the gasket.
