Talk about keeping a low profile. Toyota took the wraps, and the body, off its ?sleeper? Camry drag car.
The silver, single-seat ?sedan? features a stock body wrapped around a tube frame dragster chassis that?s been stuffed with the 5.7-liter V8, transmission and live rear axle from a Tundra pickup.
A TRD supercharger, forged pistons and rods, nitrous oxide system and Magnaflow exhaust pump the engine up to 850 hp that?s sent to the asphalt through an IPT transmission and 335/30/18 Goodyear drag radials that make it good for a 9.8-second quarter-mile time, according to Toyota.
Amazingly, even though it has a funny car-style lift body, the doors open conventionally to add to the ?sleeper? effect. As if the fact that a Camry is pulling up next you at the strip isn?t enough to tip you off that something might be up. View the attachments for this post at:
