22r to 22re

Is your truck 2wd or 4wd?

That's about what I get with my 87 4runner with a 22re.

I got between 17 and 18 with a 1994 Pickup 4x4 (22re). Yeah, it had 31" tires (or 33? don't remember, they were on it when I bought it) and a slightly higher suspension, but I don't think you're looking at any fantastic mileage jump by switching to fuel injection. And you will lose power.

I get around that with my '87 4x4 Pickup 22-RE.

I'm guessing it WON'T be worth the pain in the wallet that it will be.

My '87 4X4 long bed with 22R carbureted averages about the same here in the panhandle of Texas. During real cold weather with snow on the ground I have gotten as low as 14 mpg. On the hwy during a nice summer day, and a tail wind, I have gotten 22 mpg. I have been thinking about a Weber conversion as we don't have to worry about emissions testing for now.

maybe u need a new exhasut system? I used to have a 89 22re and when i started getting gas like that it was my exhaust. After i got it fixed i was getting like 25mpg again.

my '88 with the carb and 4speed got mid 20s in local driving (mixed 'town' and short freeway outings) and 29-30 on freeway trips. I'd check the float level, if the choke is working properly etc before giving up on that setup.
