Exhaust parts sticker shock!!!!! Help!

I found some rust perforation on the tailpipe, after the muffler, on my

97 T 100 V6. It's a one piece unit after the cat, muffler included, so I figured I'd order it. $124.00. No big deal. I asked the parts manager at Toyota how much the cat would cost. He mentions that there's a short piece of pipe between the cat and the one piece section. OK. Then he tells me the price. $1381.67! For the cat and the short section of pipe! $1381.67!! Can this be correct? Has the world gone crazy?? Any suggestions? Aftermarket sources? TIA.

Have an after market cat welded in at the local muffler shop for $100.

If your cat is bolt-in (flange on each end) and it proably is, check out Summit Racing -

- I replaced myTacoma's (3.4L V6) with a high-flow for a little over $100 - quickbolt-in operation - runs fine, has passed Texas emissions the last twoyears with no problems.
