Is the V6 HG problem inevitable. Are there no engineering fixes, ie better gaskets, heads, whatever?
If no engineering fix, anyone have a sense of the repeat rate, ie 80K or what?
Lastly, if you catch the next cycle by virtue of exhaust drip, get the HG done as opposed to wait until one has scored a cyclinder wall, I assume you have saved a considerable amount, even if you have to have the work done more often...
Just bought a '94 V6 which has a small drip not a funtion of intial overnight warmup. For me, its worth fixing anyway, as I put very few miles on any vehicles these days. Nice compliment to my SR5 Long bed 22RE which also had head gasket done at 200K, although I waited too long, so "needed" a short block.
Any comments would be of interest.
