Therostat Heat Rating

Feb 05, 2005 3 Replies

Just noticed a weird thing--most anaroid-type thermostats are market with a heat value, such as 70 or 80, meaning temperature in Celsius. Mine is marked with a very small "12" and then next to it a large "55". These numbers don't seem to make sense to me.

Any thoughts??

Yes, but 55F seems quite low for the thermostat to expand, and that is, I assume, the meaning of the number?
