I have an intermittent problem with the climate controll system of my '97 960. The air conditioner will quit occasionally in mid operation and stop cooling. The fan still runs. Seems to happen when the weather is hottest and recovers in 15-20 minutes. In the winter the heater will stop throwing out heat. Heating problem happens when the car is running at higher speeds. Never in city driving. The Volvo Dealer service guy just says they can't find anything wrong. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Does it recover without turning of the a/c and then turning it back on? Could be the overload relay on the compressor or the compressor itself.
Two different problems. This one seems to be a thermostat.
