How does one get the center console off to get at the hand brake adjustment between the two from seats?

How does one get the center console off to get at the hand brake adjustment between the two from seats?

Not sure about the 960,but on some models I remember taking the rear ashtray out and reaching in and adjusting a big plastic nut with my hand. Mark.
