Volvo gives the oil specs for its 1997 855TDI (an Audi engine) API/CD - or better I presume. this was long ago.
Nowadays diesel passenger car motor oils sold usually are API/CF.
The most advance truck motor oils nowadays have specs API/CJ-4 or API/CI-4, allowing long oil change intervals and helping fulfill the environmental standards for modern truck engines with EGR.
Is there any technical reason against using these modern truck diesel motor oils in passenger car diesel engines in countries where the sulfur content of the diesel fuel is way below 0,5%?
