fan relay volvo 850 turbo 1995

I brought my 850t (138K miles) in because it was running hot, even though the radiator had recently been replaced, and there was ample antifreeze in the system.

The shop said I needed a new fan relay, so we replaced the old one.

Unexpectedly, the air conditioning, which had not been working, suddenly began to work. Do you have any idea as to why this might happen?

Also, although the air works, it does not operate well at "moderate" levels-- it is either very much "on" (and I get too cold), or it is "off" (and I get warm).

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Easy, the air-conditioning selects the cooling fan via two pressure sensors, one for high Freon pressure and the other for low Freon pressure. I suspect that you need a Freon top-up as well. The fan is also triggered by an output from the ECU.

Cheers, Peter.
