How much $$$ to tighten up my '92 240 front end?

Hello once again,

I have a '92 240 ith 142K miles. I bought it with about 65K miles. It's noticeably looser and clunkier up front than it used to be. Nothing too dramatic; just feels like bushings or the equivilant might be wearing out. Could anyone give me a general idea, low to high, of what to expect to get it back up to snuff?

It's getting new belts, timing belt, front seal, and probably a water pump later this week. And getting a leaky caliper replaced. The front end is the next thing to go after the next time funds allow some discretionary maintenance. Just trying to do some research, get some idea of what to expect!

Thanks!

i would guess $1,500 (us$) would go a loooong way....contact your local indep volvo shop and have them do a quote...Or, call IPD and have them recomend a IPD shop in your area...The front ends are a real pleasure in the 240's when done right...Slap on a sway bar and a decent set of "sticky radials" and you will be crusin'.......Your right, you may only need a few bushings, and other smallmisc parts....

If you pay someone else to do it, it'll probably cost you about $500 to have all the suspension bushings in the front end replaced. If you do it yourself you can save about half but you need a press, or a big bench vice and some creativity.
