VOLVO 850 1994 - intermittent start problem

Dec 21, 2003 2 Replies

I have a 1994 850 which has an intermittent problem. It may work fine for a few weeks. I took (towed) the car to the local Volvo dealers (normally very good). The 1st time they tried it, it would not start, then took it into the workshop, it started. The computer does not show a problem.

Further explanation: The car (normally) starts quickly when the key is turned. On theses occasions, the starter turns the motor but not fire up.

Any (polite) suggestions?

Fuel pump relay...when it doesn't start can you still hear the fuel pump going? Camshaft position sensor?

Thanks, I will take note the next time the problem occurs,
