1998-2002 NB Recall Notice: Brake Light Switch

Not sure if this has been posted here earlier or not:



Received a recall notice from VW America this week: 90-02 New Beetle brake light switches may go inoperative..or stay on...with all the fun-filled results you might expect from a car that is not braking (but has its brake lights burning) or is braking (with no lights indicating this to those behind). As the VW letter so intriguingly puts it: "Failure to provide the the proper signal when braking could lead to a crash without warning."



VW dealers will inspect/repair if needed. If you already ahve incurred expenses for this repair, they are asking for copy of repair order and "original" proof of payment, and a note sent to the following address: VOA Recall Reimbursment (WT)

Once provided, the letter says (also intriguingly): "we will review your request for reimbursment".
