2000 VW Cabrio Horn Location

Hey everyone,

I have been trying to find the horn in my VW Cabrio (2000yr) -- the dealership is trying to charge me $150 to replace it... I think I can do it for what... $15? I thought it was in the passenger side wheel, but can not find it... can anyone help?

Also.. if the beep works when locking the door, does that mean the horn is good and I should check the fuse? If so, can anyone point me to a fuse diagram since the dealership removed, and never replaced, the cover for my fuse box with the diagram on there?

LOTS OF THANKS!!

Kevin

If you get the little beep, I would guess your horn your fuse, and your horn relay are all okay. I would look next to the horn button/switch. Is it on the steering wheel?

here as a fuse listing that may work for your year - worksm for my

2001 Jetta -- don't know for sure, check it out...

Thanks for the reply -- the horn does, in fact, beep when the car is locked - so I guess replacing the horn would do no good.

I am going to check the fuse as soon as I can check out the car in the light --- darn daylight savings time! :)

as far as horn button/switch goes... does that involve getting into the steering wheel somehow? Sorry, i am a big car repare novice, seeing as the frustration of dealing with this one has driven me to it!

thanks aga> >

That car has 2 horns maybe 3. One for the alarm which is mounted I think under the wiper motor. And the others for beep-beeping when looking at pretty girls. It's been awhile since I had a Cab in the shop but I think you will find them up under the bumper behind the parking/turn signal lights. Not sure which side of the car...
