Buying a used New-Beetle - need info and advice please

Hi,
I'm interested in buying a used New-Beetle, but don't know much about the various models and options that are out there.
Can anyone direct me to a site that would have that information by model
year.
Also, if you have any advice (ie. models/years to avoid and why, etc.) that would be appreciated. I haven't bought a used car in a long, long time.
Thanks.

it goes like this....
avoid anything older than 2000...in fact, try for 2001+...earlier NB's had some...uh...problems with build quality.
GL , GLS, and GLX Each model means more and more std. equipment...
Engines go: 2.0L, 1.9TDI, and 1.8T 2.0 is a good motor...not exactly powerful...but rather torquey...(is that a word?) 1.9TDI is just that...a turbo diesel...not a bad motor by any means.... 1.8T....now thats a sexy beast....would be MY first choice...followed by TDI, then 2.0.
just my tew scents ;)

Make sure all recalls have been taken care of. Coil Packs, Window Regulators, etc. Go for 2001 and newer. The 1.8 is a lot of fun. There are concept beetles that are a bit unique. DB
