Golf 2 Syncro oversteer?

Hi Everyone,



I am contemplating buying an '88 Golf Syncro 1.8. I was wondering if anyone knows what sort of handling to expect on slippery surfaces. I love oversteer and all of my cars in recent history have been rear-wheel drive.



I'm looking for the fun of throttle induced oversteering slides like I get in my BMW, but with the grip to be able to get up steep icy inclines.



Is this possible with the front-bias syncro system? Is it possible to adjust the bias somehow to encourage oversteer?

No. The "real" syncro is a fwd car that has an additional drive train to the rear axle that is engaged via a visco-coupling - read: if there is a noticeable difference in rotational velocity between the front and the rear wheels. Thus it will basically understeer at first, but due to the rear wheels kicking in the understeer will not get as dominant as with fwd.

No. The visco-coupling _needs_ a difference in rotational velocity to transmit any power. Please note, that all the above is not true for the newer VWs with _longitudinally_ mounted engines, regardless if badged syncro or four-motion, as they use the different Audi system quattro.
