golf mk3 1800 cl,lumpy idling problem??

Hi all, i have a Golf Mk3 1992 1800 cl engine code AAM with Bosch Mono-Motronic ignition system. The spark plugs are the 3 or is it 4 electrode type.

Recently i have noted that when starting the car from cold,as soon as it has warmed the tickover moves from smooth to lumpy, sounding almost like a partial mis-fire. The exhaust note sounds like a misfire and the car has a slight vibration. On driving off all appears ok and it runs ok and doesnt hesitate when driving at normal road speeds. Also when its lumpy idling,a quick blip on the throttle does not produce any stuttering or hesitation.

In an effort to cure it ive replaced the air filter, distributor cap and rotor arm,all of which were probably due for replacement anyway, still no fix.

I am beginning to think it is a Bosch Mono Motronic (or attached sensor) problem,,any ideas welcome,,, joe manchester UK
