HELP!

Just finished a rather expensive rebuild on an 81 westfalia 2 litre aircooled engine.... Girlfriend stuffed it in 1st at 50kph.... ugh..... Anyways fully rebuilt back in the bay and it runs, but the second you try to push the accelerator down it dies. Checked and replaced all vacuum hoses, checked the air flow sensor, it functions and seems fine.... I'm at a loss and starting to get really annoyed. It will accelerate if you advance the timing waaaay to far and slowly turn the accelerator. Also bought a vacuum gauge today and the vacuum appears to be fine. ANY ideas would be appreciated

Thanks Scott

And thanks for causing me to remember it.

I'm having an engine problem with my '77 camper, and I really should ask about it over there.
