Passat Electric fan

Aug 20, 2007 1 Replies

I have a 2001 V6 4Motion Passat with 55K miles. Lately the auxillary fan keep blowing the 40A fuse. The fan runs fine at high speed for a few minutes before blowing the fuse. It seems that without the fan the only thing that I notice is that the A/C output is not the greatest, at highway speeds it gets a little better. I am assuming that the fan is shot and needs to be replaced. Is this a known problem on the car at this mileage? Thanks

Yes, it needs to be replaced. The motor is pulling too much current.
