Sport Models?

Nov 07, 2003 1 Replies

From 1985 to 1992 I know VW produced the "GLI" Jetta's which were a little sportier than the standard Jetta models. Better seats, slightly different styling, minor engine enhancements, etc.

Since I'm considering buying a newer car, I'm curious if any later models were "sport" designated like the GLI's? Would be interested in Jetta's, Golfs, and maybe even the Passat.

Thanks,

Anthony

VW Currently sells a new Jetta GLI equipped with a 2.8L 200 HP VR6 and a

6-Speed manual. It is a nice car, I have driven a few, and they are a worthy successor to the old A2 Jetta GLI.

The A3 Jetta GLX was sportier than the GL and GLS models it was sold along with. It had a 2.8L 174 HP VR6 and 5-speed manual.
