Timing Set procedure for '98 Cabrio

Nov 18, 2003 1 Replies

I made a boo-boo. WHen the wife's Cabrio wouldnt start, in my desparation to find a cause, I messed with the distributor timing. Now that I have it running again (by replacing ignition coil), I need to reset the timing. Can someone post the procedure? I don't have a book and (since we're about to sell the vehicle) don't relish the thought of buying one just for this.

Any help would be much appreciated....

Get the engine crank to TDC, remove the cap from the distribitor. Loosen bolt that secures dist. There is a mark on the top lip of the dist, you want this mark to line up with the rotor button when the engine is at TDC. Once you've twisted the dist so it lines up, tighten the bolt back down and snap the cap back on.
