I have tried to find where to check the gearbox oil level, but sofar no succes. Had expected the screw to be on one side of the gearbox, ? Help please

Remove the left front wheel and look at the end of the trans. It's a hex socket plug.
Isn't the engine/trans. in the back?

Yes the engine/trans is in the back. It is an old car.
