You should be able to tow 1500 Ibs like it is not there on a pick up. The only issue will be the height of the bumper ball. That is why folks use a hitch. Wal-Mart sells hitches for about $100. It should bolt right on your truck frame. You can get the plug in wire harness for about $15 for your truck there too. So if the Height is OK to keep the hitch weight at 10% just get a ball and put it on the bumper. All you need then is the wire harness connector. 1500 Lbs should not stress your truck even if the tailer does not have brakes. As long as your brakes are good on the truck. It will take longer to stop though. GM has always been weak on brakes, My 99 Suburban can hardly stop itself, but your pick up is a better design. Good luck.
