FS: Tons of new antique car parts

Hello Vintage Car Buffs.

My wife and I just bought an auto parts store in rural Montana. It is a very neat store. It has been in continous operation since the 1920's and still has literally tons of inventory. We are selling this off as fast as we can so we can pay down the loan on the store and purchase newer stock. At one time the place was a Chevy dealership in the 30's and 40's and has lots of Chevy parts from that era We have lots of Chevy, Ford and Mopar parts as well as Desoto, Hudson, Willy's and ? There are lots of NOS parts in the orginal boxes. There are hundreds of peices of chevy and pontiac window glass 30's and 40"s vintage. @ 300 leaf springs 30's thru 60's. Axles 20's thru 60's as well as stearing arms. I have found a lot of taillights and lenses from the 30's and 40's. 300 plus fuel pumps. Exhaust pipe for 60's thru 80's There are truck and tractor parts also. You can call us and we will see if we have the parts you need. We have no lists and are not going to put any together except on a website at a later date. Right now we want to move some stuff and make some space. Call us at 406-292- 4868 home or 406-355-4444 store. Our email is snipped-for-privacy@ttc-cmc.net we have a website with a ton of shooting supplies on it at

Phone: 406-292-HUNT (4868) Leave a message, if needed. We are still a Mom & Pop outfit without a secretary. Call between 10:00AM and

8:00PM Mountain time, no calls on Sunday please. Please respect these times, as this is also our home phone. Wicks Trading Post RR1, Box 25 Joplin, Montana 59531

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold. I remember "wicks" saying something like:

Please respect our newsgroup and don't spam your Yank stuff in a UK group.

Is the post entirely inappropriate? Personally I don't think so. He'll ship to europe, and there are US classic cars in the UK. Phoning might be inapropriate, but he does give an e-mail address. Mike.

Mike G ( snipped-for-privacy@lycos.co.uk) gurgled happily, sounding much like they were saying :

There are currently 1,508 items listed in eBay's "Classic Cars" category. There are currently 15,102 items listed in eBay's "Classic Car Parts" category. There are currently 10,104 items listed in eBay's "Automobilia" category. There are currently 15,061 items listed in eBay's "Manuals & Literature" category.

How useful would this group be if every one of those 40,000+ items had been spammed here in the last week?

Advertising in this group is inappropriate, but no one seems to complain about those that advertise 'classic' UK cars. Re Phil and his Viva. Mike.

Someone did complain actually. Personally, I think there's a world of difference between Phil and the OP of this thread. If you put "Wicks Trading Post" into google groups, you'll find that he's been posting adverts to a range of different newsgroups for years. Examples include an ad for "Readi Meals" posted to alt.religion.mormon FFS!

Can I point you to my initial reply to Phil's Viva ad?

And my reply to the repost of Phil's Viva ad in uk.rec.driving earlier today?

I did notice your reply, but it seemed more concerned with his posting to other groups as well, rather than a complaint about that particular post.

I had noticed that post as well. :-)

Basically I think I agree with most on the subject of ads in this group. It's one thing to just give a link. Quite another to post a complete sales advert giving all the details. Technically even posting a link is wrong, but acceptable IMO, if it's a 'classic' UK car. It's just that in this particular case, there seemed to be different rules for a UK based advert, than to a US one that could still be of interest to a UK consumer. TBH I'm not really that concerned either way. I rarely concern myself with criticising occasional posts that overstep the boundaries of what is considered acceptable for a particular group. Mike.
