Where is the fuel filter located on a 1993 Taurus. I looked around the gas tank is it near the muffler?

Passenger side of car, under the rear door, held in by a big hose clamp and two plastic quick connects (which you should get new clips for with the new filter).

i did mine on the same car.. passenger side, right back of rear door... on the rail under the car.. attached with a very large hose clamp.. need a small screw driver to remove the two push on clamps.. the first thing i did was open the trunk and removed the wires on the gas safety shut off valve located behind the driver side of the trunk carpet.. pull the carpet out and you will see the switch.. then try to start up the car and let it run until it kills due to lack of gas(this will get the pressure off the gas line so it does not shoot out when you disconnect the filter(but some will still come out)).... just remember the put the wires back on when you finish changing the filter so it will start.. mine started right up... no problems.... hope this helps.
