have this 3.8l 10 year old lincoln cont

yesterday after stopping it would not start

aaa guy came, cleaned loose and slightly corroded terminals, used jump battery pack nothing bang in the starter and whirrrrrrr, started right up

so it started but "dying starter"

went to my mechanic type and he can't get to it until he gets back from killing 4 legged animals next week

drove home, parked it

turned the key

started right up

tried this morning

Typically, this is an indication of a dead spot in the starter windings. If the starter stops spinning right on the dead spot, then it won't work next time. If it stops in a good spot, the starter will work.

Time for a new starter.

well that was the consensus of 50+ years of auto experience

but what do you think about the roll of the dice for the next 5 days until he gets back from the hills

let it sit or rick it?

I wouldn't drive it...but if you're stuck without a car, carry a hammer, and reach under there and bang it while a helper turns the key.
