97 S-10 Blazer ign swith electrical questions

  1. This is a 97, 4.3L, auto, 2dr, 2wd vehicle. A/C, non-power windows, no rear wiper, no glass heater. Dash has 4 gauges for engine (oil, temp, volts, fuel ) plust speedomemer and warning (idiot) lights.

  1. When turing the key from lock, to off, to on.. but before turning to crank over, sometimes, the dash check (lights come on for a few seconds) does not happen. In this mode, engine will crank but not run.

  2. Turning key to off, run, once or twice will get the light check, then crank and runs fine.

  1. Occasionally while driving engine shuts off, dash lights do the "check" thing, the buzzer sounds. Cranking (place in N if still moving) restarts it.

Seems like switch to me.. however..

There are 3 relays in the glove box behind a plastic panel. These are simple, single-pole double throw. 5 connectors; 2 for the coil, common, Normal-Open and Normal-close.

No indication what these do. I think one is the DRL vs Full brightness., but not sure. Anyone know?

There are other relays on the firewall, passenger side, near the transmission dip stick. Any idea what those do?

At least they describe what each fuse does.
