1999 Rodeo Fuel Gauge problem

My Rodeo's low fuel light blinks on and off intermittently, and the fuel gauge indicator waffles up and down as well, whether I have a full tank or not. Anyone know what the problem might be? My Rodeo LSE has only

45000 miles on it. Thank you.
