08 SLK Had service D which included changing brake fluid. Over 600.00. Thye want to change auto trans fluid. About 400.00. That's a bit much isn't it?

What is your current mileage?
Brake fluid change is usually around $70 by itself... Any service A, B C, or D are usually expensive.
Transmission fluid is now synthetic and are expensive per quart. It is surprising they want to do transmission service... but again, not sure what mileage you have now. ATF fluid is around $25 a quart... and I think you need like 5 for a normal service... and filter and gasket kit is around $100...
