Tranny maintenance question...

Any preferences out there as far as who should do my Legacy 2.2L automatic

75K miles tranny maintenance?

Should I Do it myself - I'm not exactly a mechanical buffoon but I have NEVER done anything with the Tranny except check/adjust fluid levels. Is it extremely complicated?

Take it to local Subaru dealer - had a bad experience with them trying to recommend un-needed maintenance...but I would take it to them if there is a reason that I shouldn't take it to a third party.

Take it to a third party Tranny place?

Thanks for any help you guys can give me!

First, try to find book for Subaru maintenance. I got mine for about 20$ at Autozone. Second, check what steps should be taken for one or another operation. Third, decide if you want to take responsibility for possible damage and do it yourself, or just go to another mechanic.

Some stuff, like changing coolant, engine oil, differential oil is really easy and you can mess up with almost nothing. Some stuff may require patience, diligence, and special tools. But nothing impossible, especially if you have second car you can drive if something does not go well...
