I have a GM 4L30E auto transmission in a 95 Trooper. Recently it's been setting off the Check Trans light and going into limp-home mode, usually when I'm trying to get it to downshift from 3rd to 2nd to accelerate (like after a corner). I pulled the codes, all I got was a code 37, which Mitchell says is something like Torque Control Serial Line Error.
I'll try tracing wires and checking connectors to see if it's a corrosion/resistance problem, but other than that, I'm lost. Any idea what other things to check? Or is it time to take it to a tranny shop? I'm philosophically opposed to letting anyone else work on it, but I may be out of my league here.
Thanks KCinMN
