car starts but dies afterwards (may)

i have a honda accord 1994. when i start the car, it would start up, but a second later, would die. i would have to re-start at least 2 times, and then it would run completely normal and i'm able to drive. fortunately, it hasn't died while i'm on the road.

frankly, i'm a bit concerned about this. i've had new batteries, replaced a new distributor, replaced new spark plugs. oil is changed at 3000 miles.

can anyone tell me which components to check out?

i want to determine what the problem is before i bring to mechanic.

I'd probably say fuel filter or fuel pump.

Could be a temp sensor for the computer, if it is reading wrong then when the engine is cold it might not be getting enough fuel, a couple of starts later the internal parts may have warmed up enough to keep it running. Is it rough at tall after it finaly stay's running and get better after a minute or two, then most likly a temp sensor gone bad.

next time you start it, as it stumbles turn the key slightly towards start, and see if it keeps running. if it does you need an ignition switch.. if that doesn't work the next suspect is a main relay that's breaking down. usually they won't even start but i have seen this happen especially on the del sols.
