Valvoline CV Grease - Where to get?

In the book Boston's Gun Bible, he recommended Valvoline CV joint grease for use on 1911 style gun slides and said a 1 lb tub of the stuff was only about $4, but I haven't been able to find it anywhere in the Denver area so far. Does anyone know where to buy the stuff?

Maybe you should recontact Valvoline and suggest that they get a computer with some Sales Analysis software so they will be able to assist consumers with simple requests like yours. I have contacted a few companies in the past when I was unable to locate their product at a retailers and they were happy to supply me with a list of shops in my area that carried the item.

Could this be what you are looking for, Melissa? It's in most auto parts and hardware stores.

I find Red Line CV-2 grease easier find. Basically any decent CV rated grease should do. The reason for the CV type grease is that it is a "high tac" grease which in short means it stays where you put it and is a very stable grease with a broad temperature range. For the Red Line its -100 to

500 F. It's probably more expensive than the Vavoline as it's a full synthetic grease, but one pound shouldn't be too unreasonable.

Thanks. Boston said that a pound would last forever when used as gun grease, so even less than a pound would be great.

Go to your local car parts store and ask what CV joint grease they carry. They usually sell it in 1 joint portions, I think less than 1lb. It should lube many 45's.
