VW Diagnostic sounds?

Hey guys, I am wondering if any of you might know of a website that has audio recordings of VW "error conditions"?

On cold days my bug's engine has a cold startup sound that can best be described as either rubber slapping something or knuckles cracking. Yes, it sounds like it is coming from the driver's side. I had adjusted the valves just a month or two ago and they were all right on the money before I even started. NOW, I must admit that a little bit ago we had an exceptionally cold spell (ok, exceptional for Texas) and the oil was a little overdue to be changed...pushing 4500 miles... 10W30 but it was getting thick.... Trying to determine whether it might be that the heads need tightening down, the start of valve problems (not a ticking sound, I think), or what. Can't exactly drive it to a shop and have them listen unless I leave it overnight, since once it is warm, it is fine.

For that matter, we could be both informative and irreverent if we had video too. (Fun as in a wrecked front end picture noting "possible bent axle... etc", engine compartment on fire "fuel leak"....)

Ideas? KWW
