There are at least two cars that have the engine in the front and a transmission/differential combo. at the rear wheels - for better weight distribution(50/50).

They are 1 Corvette with C-5 2. Volvo 360

Does anybody know of others? Thanks.

1963 Pontiac Tempest. also had IRS as well as the transmission mounted to the rear axle. these cars are some times called "rope drive". Charles

Corvair rear transaxle with the clutch up front. Had a flexible drive shaft to lower the hump. I had an automatic station wagon:)
