Audi 80 1.8 ('89) (not diesel) problem

I have problem with my Audi 80 1.8, when my transmission is in N, car shuts down... Local mechanic tried to fix it, but no luck, problem is still there.. All opinions are welcome...

(sorry for my bad english)

Could this possibly be related to the solenoid that only allows the car to be started in park or neutral?
