BMW 540iT, AC problem...

Apr 03, 2006 1 Replies

Hello!

I just bought a 2000 540iT w/90K miles.

My (non-dealer) mechanic cannot locate the source of an electrical problem regarding the AC and the self-leveling suspension...

All AC controls function, but power is not getting to the compressor; he can force the compressor to function by energizing directly, apparently the same with the suspension function.

There is an on-dash error message regarding the suspension, but not the AC.

Any suggestions (besides taking it to a dealer)?

Thanks in advance,

Fred in South Carolina

Check the low pressure switch for the AC, the system may be sufficiently discharged to cause the low pressure switch to open to protect the compressor...
