Re: Wanted: 79-81 Camaro Shopping Tips!

Hello,

From my experience, I'd highly suggest getting under the car to inspect the frame and floor pans. Welding is VERY expensive! You would be doing yourself a favor to be patient and hunt for a solid car. Also, get one that needs little body work because you'll save a $#^!load of money. Good luck,

I would agree with Ed, and try and find one that's in solid structural shape. I would also check the quarters VERY carefully, over the wheels and back to the bumper. It seems alot of cars get tagged there, especially on the drivers' side. The owners will then cram in buckets of bondo, beer cans, and cut-up license plates to reshape this area. It never looks or feels right, and the crappy repair will be evident when you look in the trunk. Also check closely around the windshield and backlite. The flange where the window glues in will frequently rust.
