1987 Chevy R10 horn location

Hi!

The horn on my 1984 GMC Sierra is on the driver's side (if memory serves), behind the grille. I do know that it is behind there for certain...just not exactly sure on which side.

Should be on the drivers side mounted to the inside of the radiator horn, or to the inner fender adjacent to the radiator horn above the charcoal canister.

My 89 same as a 87 . The Horn is located Above the canister, The bolt hole Way up. The Wire is a GREEN Wire that Comes out of the LEFT Headlight Harness .. When looking at the wire Harness u will See a Black Wire that is Grounded to The Support By a bolt. This Same Bolt is Used to Mount the Horn. If u still are confuse I can put a picture of it on my Website.

Thanks everyone. I'll check it out in the morning. I bought this truck as a father/son project with my 15 1/2 year old son who is getting interested in mechanical stuff and this will be his truck when he starts driving. I'm not very mechanical at all. We got a full drivers side door the other day at a salvage yard and put it on, only to find out that the hinges on our truck have play in them, which doesn't allow the door to close without lifting up on the door. So back the the yard we'll go to pull the hinges from the truck we got the door from, since it closed perfectly. Once the door, horn, gas pedal, and bench seat are replaced, she might be road worthy :)

You likely just need new bushings and pins in the hinges. Easier than changing the hinges out. The kits run about 5 bucks for a pin, and the two bushings. You need two per door.

and a "door hinge spring tool", most parts places have them now, and they are cheap. It can be done with a large screw driver or pry bar but it's not very safe(for you or the truck)

I just got the pins new in the mail, and when trying to remove the old pins, there seems to be a piece of metal on the bottom of the old pins that keeps it from coming out upwards. It's doesn't seem like a removable cotter pin or anything, it seems like all one piece. Am I missing something? Is the door hinge spring tool what I'm needing to buy now?

Excellent, I'll try the pins/bushings first.

There is a retainer on the pin. It looks like a thin washer. Just bend it and take it off.
