'88 S-10 Windshield Washer quit

May 17, 2008 3 Replies

I've got a 1988 S-10 pickup. Some time ago the windhield washer motor quit working. I verified that the washer motor was good by hot wiring it directly to the battery, so I changed out the windshield washer switch in the turn signal stalk. The washer worked for a few days then quit. I then swapped out the control PC board on the wiper motor, again it worked for a few days then quit. I'm frustrated. The wiper motor works fine. Does anyone have any suggestions about where the problem may be.

Your input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Andy

did you change the board with a new one? If it was a used one it could be the soldier joints on the plug.

Yes, I swapped it with a brand new board. I also just looked over the old board under a magnifying glass and all the solder joints look fine. It sure seems like a broken solder joint or a bad plug connection, but I haven't found it yet. Any suggestions would be appreciated..

Thanks,

Andy

maybe dirt in the washer bottle plugging up the pump...??? Or a plugged hose....
