93 s10 Idles Like a Bat Out of Hell

It happened all of a sudden when I started it up today. Idling very high. I sprayed carb cleaner in everything. No good. If I unplug the part on the side of the air cleaner it won't idle at all. Am thinking about buying a code extractor from a local DAP. Any ideas on which one to get. They have one for 25 bucks for GM that I was looking at tonight. Any ideas please.

Thanks,

David

I no longer have the links (crash), but wait for someone to post them. You don't need that "reader" (it's a switch with 3 pins, one so you can read ABS codes and one so you can read OBDI codes). SO you could use a paper clip for this purpose. Then your check engine light flashest at you to tell you what may be wrong.

Thanks. But did the paper clip trick and got the code. Bad M.A.P. sensor.

My 1989 S10 ran as good with that as with out. Never seen it make it idle high? Am I to take it you have already swapped it out and it's all better now?

I'd venture a guess that his MAP sensor is fine and a vac. leak is causing a MAP code to set. Bob

That makes a bit of sense to me.
