98 S-10 gauge problem

Hi all, figured if anybody knows whats going on, one of you guys will. Just replaced my alternator because the idiot light was on, but it is charging, been this way since I had to replace it 8 months ago, didn't want to screw with it again. Anyways, now the entire dashboard, all idiot lights, gages, speedo, etc. are coming on as i'm driving, just for a couple of seconds, then they go normal running condition. Might do it a couple of times in a row. The engine keeps running, so I am figuring that it is a dash problem or maybe something to do with the alternator connections. Anybody help???? Besides a low or over charge condition, the idiot light can come on for a problem with the diodes.

Buddy of mine told me that its probably a hot grounding, checked the alternator and I'd left the rubber cover for the battery connection off and it was able to touch a steel tube. Guess I was in too much of a hurry to get the thing finished.... live and learn. Wayne
