adding power door locks?

I remember some time back seeing someone post about adding power door locks to a GMC pickup without them. Nearly bought the actuators then, and should have. Can't for the life of me find a web site selling them. Google seems to bring up dry holes. Pickup is a 1998 GMC 1500. Saw some at circuit schitty in the alarms department... but they seemed a bit pricey. Any other suggestions?

How about your freindly neighborhood junk yard?

Junk yard would be a better bet. I had problems with the cluster of switches on the drivers door on my 97 GMC (rocker pivots were broken), and I picked up every switch on the drivers door to include mirrow, door locks and windows for $25.00

Similar syntax to what i used on the search criteria... and all it returned was trucks for sale with power locks already in them. BUt yeah the slickcar ones were the ones I was thinking of, just couldn't remember the name.

I considered the junkyard option, however I do not have anything regarding power locks in the truck, would have to also replace the manual levers in the truck wiht the power rocker switch, OR replace the entire interior door panel.... and frankly I've got my armrest broken in just right.....

Unless things have radically changed, the area the switches mount is a blank that will pop out, no need to replace the door panels. The manual levers still stay, other wise you could get locked in if the relay went bad, or the switch went bad etc. Junkyard would allow grabbing the harness and boots that cover the wiring between door and body. Just a thought, not trying to sound snyde, just passing on more info for others who might be contemplating same. fixing to add them to my Caviler I bought for work. I dont miss the power windows too awefully much but I do miss the power door locks a lot. I miss driving the truck in traffic, but the car averages 28-32 mpg every tank, while the truck gets at best 20, also the car runs well on regular, the truck wants high test. I get a decent auto allowance from my employer, and with the fuel mileage and regular gas, I am saving enough on fuel costs to make the car payment, plus the thing will be covered under warranty till I trade it for another.. I still miss driving the truck, the car gets zero respect in traffic. Economics is such a bear to live with.
